Ph.D. in International Relations
Mr Olivier Brenninkmeijer acts as the Treasurer for Eco-Villages and contributes to the development of its projects through public relations and fundraising.
As researcher and project manager, Mr Olivier Brenninkmeijer analyses innovative public-private partnerships for economic development. He is interested in human security, sustainable development and mediation, as well as in water management, innovative energy developments and education. He manages projects in collaboration with UNIDIR, UNECE, UNITAR, the University of Geneva, the University of Business and International Studies (UBIS), the research centre “Centre de Recherches Entreprises et Sociétés” (CRES), and with NGOs. Mr Brenninkmeijer holds a PhD from the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva and has published on industry partnerships with the United Nations, on European security and public safety, and on multilateral dispute resolution.

Dr. Brenninkmeijer travaille comme chercheur et gérant de projets dans l’analyse des partenariats public privé pour le développement économique, des d’infrastructures et des services publics. Il s’intéresse en particulier à la sécurité humaine, le développement durable et la médiation, ainsi que la gestion de l’eau dans tous ses aspects, à l’innovation énergétique et à l’éducation. M. Brenninkmeijer gère des projets en collaboration avec l’UNIDIR, UNITAR, UNECE, l’Université de Genève, le University of Business and international Studies (UBIS), le Centre de Recherches Entreprises et Sociétés” (CRES), et d’autres ONGs. Titulaire d’un doctorat de l’Institut universitaire de hautes études internationales à Genève, il a publié ses recherches sur les partenariats entre l’industrie et les Nations Unies, sur la sécurité en Europe, et sur les efforts multilatéraux dans la résolution de conflits.

Dr. de Castro works as a Bioinformatician – software developer and project leader – at the Swiss Institute of BioInformatics.
Holding a doctorate in Sciences from the university of Geneva (in Switzerland), he was a researcher in biochemistry and molecular biology, alternating lab work with computer modeling. Now he is developing software applications to manage life science data.

Dr. de Castro travaille comme Bioinformaticien – developpeur logiciels, et project leader – a l’institut suisse de Bioinformatique.
Titulaire d’un doctorat en science de l’université de Genève, il a effectué de la recherche en biochimie et biologie moléculaire, alternant entre le travail de laboratoire et la modélisation informatique.
A présent, il s’intéresse en particulier au developpement de logiciels pour la gestion d’informations lieés aux sciences de la vie.

Marc Flegenheimer is a Human Resources specialist in the sector of international development and humanitarian emergency response. He is currently working for CARE International’s Secretariat located in Geneva.
Prior to that he worked for 15 years with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), both as a field-based delegate engaged in activities pertaining to ICRC’s mandate as well as at its headquarters in Geneva where he joined the human resources department and lead several units in that department.
He also worked in the public services where he served as an HR specialist at Geneva’s department of education (DIP).

Spécialiste des ressources humaines dans le domaine de l’urgence humanitaire et du développement, il travaille actuellement pour le Secrétariat de CARE International dont les bureaux sont situés à Genève
Auparavant il a travaillé 15 ans au Comité International de la Croix Rouge (CICR), tant sur le terrain en qualité de délégué actifs dans les domaines d’intervention traditionnels de cette institution qu’à son siège genevois où, ayant rejoint le département des ressources humaines il a dirigé plusieurs services appartenant à ce département.
Il a également exercé son métier RH dans la fonction publique où il a occupé une place de cadre supérieur au Département de l’Instruction Publique (DIP) du canton de Genève.

Msc in Geography from the University of Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso)
Land use engineers, he worked as an independent consultant for the Geografic Institute of Burkina (GIB) and for several offices in the frame of the National Program of Land Management (PNGT). He is interested in the problematic of water in Burkina Faso and has performed a study on the dynamic of sand formation in natural ponds of the Sahel in Burkina Faso.
He is presently carrying out a Master’s degree at the Graduate Institute of Development Studies (IUED) in Geneva on the socio-economical issues of water management in the commune of Kongoussi (Burkina Faso).

Géographe physicien et aménagiste de formation et il a été consultant indépendant au compte de l’Institut Géographique du Burkina (IGB) ainsi que dans de nombreux bureaux d’études dans le crdre du Programme National de Gestion de Terroirs (PNGT). Il s’intéresse à la problématique de l’eau au Burkina Faso et a réalisé une recherche sur la Dynamique d’ensablement des mares naturelles du Sahel Burkinabé.
Actuellement il effectue un Master à l’Institut Universitaire d’Etudes du Développement (IUED-Genève) sur les Enjeux socio-économiques de la gestion de l’eau dans la commune de Kongoussi (Burkina Faso).

Simona Santi has worked for several years as tour operator for Oby Whan T.O (Italy) and as consultant in communications media for Media One Contact (Geneva). Currently, she is responsible for communication at the School of Management and Communication in Geneva (ESM). In 2007, she has received the Paul Harris Fellow award for her work distributing medication to Lebanon with the Rotary Club. She contributes to Eco-Villages as organiser for fundraising events.

Swiss citizen born in Africa (where he has lived 35 years), Bernard has been active in a wide spectrum of activities ranging from business management of important development projects, industrial promotion and rehabilitation of water treatment plants. Overseas, he has worked for the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). In Switzerland he managed a limited company involved in sales of hydraulic equipment and taught management at Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne.
His new area of interest is sustainable development and environmental issues.

De nationalité Suisse, mais né en Afrique (où il a vécu 35 ans), Bernard a effectué des activités diverses: gestion administrative d’importants projets de développement, de promotion industrielle et de réhabilitation de stations de traitement d’eau. A l’étranger, il a travaillé pour la Direction du développement et de la coopération suisse (DDC) et pour le Comité International de la Croix Rouge (CICR). En suisse il a géré une SA active dans la distribution d’équipements hydraulique et a donné des cours de gestion d’entreprise à l’Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne. Son centre d’intérêt se porte actuellement sur le développement durable et l’environnement.

Founding member of an internet marketing agency since 1996, Lucia Levato is a consultant on internet strategies for businesses and organisations. She teaches in the sciences and technology at university level. Before creating the company Adance Sarl., she worked at the University of Lausanne where she coordinated original research in applied geophysics and published the findings in international science journals. In her engagement with Eco-Villages, she is committed to the promotion of welfare for women.
Diplomée en Physique (Diploma di Laurea), Universite de Rome “La Sapienza” – Docteur ès Sciences (mention Sciences de la Terre), Universite de Geneve.
Membre fondatrice d’une agence de marketing Internet active depuis 1996, elle conseille les entreprises et organisations sur les stratégies Internet. Elle enseigne des disciplines scientifiques et technologiques au niveau universitaire. Avant de fonder Adance Sarl, elle a travaillé à l’Université de Lausanne où elle a coordonné des recherches originales en géophysique appliquée, qui ont fait l’objet de publications dans des revues scientifiques à comité de lecture international.
Dans le cadre d’Eco-villages elle s’engage pour la promotion des femmes.

Dr. Ing. Andrea Oess is the President of Eco-villages.
Andrea is a biochemist and a rural engineer. She carried out her Ph.D. on heavy metal migration mechanism in the water and soils at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. She has coordinated more than 30 projects around the world on access to safe drinking water, sanitation and environmental programs. Initiator of the concept and founder of Eco-villages she is a specialist of ecological technologies, and works in parallel as a consultant implementing environmental management systems for companies, evaluating development projects, working on environmental impact studies and helping to implement new concepts in the field. She also advises on all questions related with climate change.

Dr. Ing. Andrea Oess est la Présidente d’Eco-villages.
Andrea est biochimiste et a réalisé son doctorat à l’EPFL sur la problématique de migration des métaux lourds dans l’eau et les sols. Elle a coordiné plus de 30 projets dans le monde entier en relation à l’accès à l’eau potable à l’assainissement et à l’environnement. Spécialiste des technologies écologiques innovantes elle travaille en parallèle comme consultante pour la mise en place de systèmes de management environnementaux, en faisant des études d’impact sur l’environnement et en soutenant d’autres organisations à mettre sur pied de nouveaux concepts sur le terrain. Elll conseille églament sur toutes les questions en relation avec le réchauffement climatique.
