International Standards and Guidelines

Eco-villages is concerned about responding to international standards and guidelines for good practice and realising projects with excellence and high ethical value. In order to meet our objectives we refer to the following guidelines:

WHO recommendations for Health.

Sphere guidelines for Water, Hygiene and Sanitation.

Iso 14’000 and Iso 14’064 guidelines for the Environment and Climate change.

The code of Conduct of the Red Cross and Red Crescent.

HAP Standards.

SECO’s anti-corruption strategy.

Administration and transparency

The membership fees are used to cover basic operational costs of Eco-Villages, while donations are used according to the donor’s wishes, either entirely for the projects or more broadly for the operational expenses of Eco-Villages.
We abide by the bookkeeping standards recommended by Swiss GAAP Rpc 21 for all our work.
An external accountant verifies the bookkeeping and also accompany each project to ensure that it is managed correctly in Switzerland. The same procedure applies to all projects in other countries, an additional local external accountant verifies the financial management of the projects.
